24-27 January 2023, Davao City – Sulong Peace, in collaboration with Bayi, Inc., conducted the first course in the Indigenous Women’s Political Empowerment Leadership Program (IWPELP). The first course highlights the Reflections, Learning and Unlearning the Beginning of the Angat Bayi Leadership Journey. This is the first out of three courses in the Transformative Feminist Leadership module offered by Bayi, Inc.
16 indigenous women leaders from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, were invited to become part of this journey. For the next two years, they will undergo a series of courses, exchange visits, and internship with local government units, and will be encouraged to take active participation in their tribal and local governance structures.
